Texas House approves mid-decade congressional redistricting plan

The proposal, which would make changes to 37 of Texas’ 38 congressional districts, now heads to the state Senate. Texas Democrats have decried the map as “illegal and racially discriminatory,” while Republicans said it was designed to help maintain a slim GOP majority in the U.S. House.
