Following emotional hearings, Camp Mystic says it will not reopen this summer

After 28 people died in a July 4 flood at its main campsite, Camp Mystic said it was withdrawing its 2026 license application and would not reopen a secondary location. Victims’ families and lawmakers urged camp owners to do so.
