Texas to prohibit purchases of candy, sugary drinks with SNAP benefits

Beginning April 1, the roughly 3.5 million Texans enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will no longer be able to use their benefits to purchase sweetened beverages or candy.
